During the classes
the majority of exercises happens i
pairs (ippangeiko), one of the trained
is the attacker (uke), whereas the other
is the defendant (tori). The other way
of mastering the techniques is
exercising in groups (kakarigeiko), then
, depending on the techniques, the
defendant is approached orderly by the
attackers. For the advanced students of
aikido, randori fight is reserved. At
that time the defendant is attacked by
a certain number of opponents with a
random and quick techniques.
When partners begin
and finish exercising a particular
technique they bow each other.
While observing the
presentation of combinations of techniques
the students remain in seated position,
seiza, on the edge of tatami, on the shimoza
side (opposite to kamiza).
At the beginning of each
training there is a warm up, followed by
strengthening exercises, number of typical
falls and turnovers (ukemi waza). Then,
depending on the daily training schedule,
the movements, blows, punches and formal
training are repeated. Having gone through
that stage, the new combination of
techniques are taught along with the former
ones.
The mastering of techniques takes place
through the various forms:
-
exercises in pairs or groups that follow the
scheme: attack – technique,
-
in a form of a
task sparring, detemined by precise attack
to be performed (grips, punches, kicks)
exercised in couples and groups (kata),
-
grappling- a
fight in standing position and ground
position, grips and no punches,
-
semi/light
contact sparrings – usually with protecting
pads worn,
-
exercises of
kicks and punches with the use of training
accessories (bags , boxing gloves etc )
